Vessel condition
All vessel owners will adhere to the following rules when in the lagoon system, lock, and approaches…

  • Only vessels in good condition, properly registered or documented, and under their own power will be admitted through the lock and/or into the lagoon.
  • All vessels must be maintained in a state of constant readiness for movement in the event of fire or evacuation, e.g., the batteries must be charged, and the fuel and water tanks should be maintained at a level that will allow the vessel to be moved in the event of a hurricane or other emergency.
  • Owners of a vessel whose propulsion machinery is inoperative and will remain so for a period of more than 48 hours must notify the Harbormaster immediately, and further inform him of the action taken to place the machinery back in operation as soon as possible.
  • Owners must keep their vessels seaworthy and in such condition that they do not become unsightly, dilapidated, or reflect unfavorably on the appearance standards of the facility.
Decks of vessels
The decks of vessels berthed at private docks and the slips at the marina must be kept clear of debris, bottles, papers, trash, or any other unsightly material, including laundry of any type or any item of personal or unsightly nature being dried or aired in public view on any vessel or pier.
Violations
The POA may impose fines or other penalties including suspension of lock privileges if, following written notification, the vessel or property owner does not correct the noted violations in a timely manner.
