Emergency removal
In the event of an emergency or an act of God, where a property owner deems it necessary to remove a Protected Tree, or trees, immediately from the property without seeking the required approval from the ARB as required in QHRRP 5000-405 (Protected Trees), the property owner may remove the tree or trees as needed without prior ARB approval.
Notification
However, the work must be reported to the ARB within fourteen (14) days of completion.  The report must include a…

  • description of the work completed by the homeowner’s arborist or tree surgeon.
  • picture of each tree that is being removed prior to removal.

Note:  The ARB will visit the property to determine whether mitigation is applicable and advise the property owner accordingly.  This rule applies to all events of emergency and acts of God including, but not limited to, storms, hurricanes, tornadoes, and natural death or failure of a tree or trees.

What to submit
Property owners submit these documents within 14 days of the emergency tree removal to the ARB for approval…

  1. Tree Removal Request/Permit Application (QHFORM 5000/5).
  2. checks for the review fee, CIF and deposit.  See QHRRP 5000-020 (Schedule of Fees).
