Policy
Because Architectural Lighting is a modification of the exterior of the home, ARB approval is required before permanently installing exterior lights of any kind.  Lighting information includes:

  • Architectural lighting is defined as “warm” white non-flashing lighting.
  • Exterior Mounted ‘Flood’ Lights are only permitted to be mounted and/or directed at the garage or sides and rear of the house.
  • No lighting shall be permitted, which alters the residential character of the community.
  • Exterior lighting for front porch, back porch/patio, and garage coach lights are permitted as down lighting.
  • Architectural Exterior Lighting cannot outline doors, windows, roof lines or other architectural features of the house.
  • Gemstone, Trimlight or similar permanent lighting used as holiday/seasonal decorative lighting must follow the same seasonal/holiday as per holiday lights guidelines. See QHRRP 3000-080 (Holiday Decorations).
What to submit
Property owners submit these documents to the ARB for approval…

  1. Architectural Review Application (QHFORM 5000/1).
  2. checks for the review fee, CIF and deposit.  See QHRRP 5000-020 (Schedule of Fees).
  3. picture of home showing where lights will be located.
  4. picture or brochure of light(s).
  5. an Exterior Lighting Plan showing on a scaled survey each light…
